IPAWAS Begins Banjul Technical Meeting

A two-day technical meeting conveyed by the Investment Promotion Agencies of West African States (IPAWAS) is underway at a local hotel in Kololi.
The two-day meeting drew Investment experts from the 15 member states of the ECOWAS sub-region reviewing a statue that will define how investment promotion agencies will integrate and work together for the development of the region.
This technical conclave is a prelude to the CEOs annual general meeting where approvals are expected to be granted on strategic recommendations advanced by regional exports to promote investments, cross border trade and foreign direct investment facilitation amongst ECOWAS member states.
Delivering his welcoming remarks at the event, the CEO of the Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency welcomed delegates and expressed The Gambia’s peaceful democratic gains and strong political commitment that is changing the country’s business environment. He further expresses the country’s readiness to embracing new investment models anchored on integration to better serve the teeming aspiration of ECOWAS citizens.
The two-day event will exhaust all frameworks provided and examined by the regional association for consideration by the CEO’s meeting for approval. The Banjul meeting will further discuss plans on the proposed 2025 ECOWAS investment Forum and is expected to open more Foreign Direct Investment into the region.
