The Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services has launched the National Misinformation and Disinformation Response Centre, a public platform designed to verify information and counter false or misleading content.
The launch positions The Gambia as the first country in West Africa to establish a national response mechanism of this nature, with support from ECOWAS. The Centre aims to strengthen access to credible information while promoting transparency, accountability, and informed public discourse.
The initiative underscores the Government’s commitment, under the leadership of President Adama Barrow, to safeguarding information integrity and democratic governance. Led by Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, the Centre is expected to serve as a trusted reference point for the public, media, and institutions.
