As part of his ongoing Meet the People Tour, His Excellency President Adama Barrow concluded his rural engagements with a visit to Gold Tree Company, a growing local manufacturer contributing to The Gambia’s industrialization and employment creation efforts.

Gold Tree Company currently produces plywood using locally sourced pongoon wood, employing approximately 30 Gambians. The company is a beneficiary of the Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (GIEPA)’s Land for Investment Facility, which provided the land to support its operations; a key initiative aimed at unlocking land access for productive and transformative investments.

During the visit, GIEPA CEO Mr. Ousainou Senghore, alongside President Barrow and a delegation from the Chinese investment team, undertook a familiarization tour of the facility, gaining firsthand insight into the company’s operations, workforce, and expansion plans.

In a major development, Gold Tree is currently constructing a cashew and peanut processing plant, expected to be operational by 2026. Once completed, the project is anticipated to:

  • Strengthen local manufacturing capacity
  • Create new employment opportunities
  • Add value to domestic agricultural raw materials
  • Contribute to rural development, industrial growth, and export competitiveness

These outcomes align directly with GIEPA’s mandate to promote investment, support enterprise development, and enhance The Gambia’s export potential.

GIEPA remains committed to facilitating impactful investments that drive inclusive growth, private sector expansion, and economic transformation across The Gambia.
