Trade Committee Reviews GIEPA Amendment Bill 2026

The National Assembly Select Committee on Trade and Regional Integration is holding a five-day retreat to review the GIEPA Amendment Bill 2026, aimed at strengthening investment promotion and improving The Gambia’s export framework.

The retreat brings together NAMs, officials from the Ministry of Trade, GIEPA, and key stakeholders to assess the proposed amendments and their impact on national development.

GIEPA’ s CEO Mr Ousainou Senghore highlighted the importance of the retreat in enhancing collaboration, boosting investment and exports, and ensuring greater benefits for Gambians. Committee Chair Hon. Kebba Jallow called for a thorough and critical review of the Bill to promote transparency and deliver tangible national benefits.

Representing the Minister, Deputy Permanent Secretary Abdoulie Jammeh reaffirmed the government’s commitment to updating the GIEPA Act to support private sector growth, job creation, and increased participation of local entrepreneurs.

The retreat is expected to help shape a stronger GIEPA Act that attracts quality investment, empowers local businesses, and enhances The Gambia’s competitiveness in the region.
