The fourth day of the industrial tour, led by Hon. Minister Mod K. Ceesay, spotlighted agro-processing, industrial growth, youth development, and investment opportunities across the regions.
DAY FOUR
Highlights:
Tropingo Processing Farm
- Specializes in drying mangoes, chilies, and other fruits for export to European and US markets
- Processes 1,200 tons annually with strong female participation in packaging
- Supported by the EU (ENABEL project) and employing 30 young Gambians
- Preparing to apply for EPZL status through GIEPA
GIEPA Properties – Farafenni (IBAS Area)
- Strategic engagement focused on planned developments and attracting investment for industrial expansion
Jah Bereto Cement
- Produces thousands of bags of cement daily
- Employs over 60 young Gambians
- A key contributor to national development and infrastructure growth
One-Stop Shop OSEC – Board Meeting Farafenni
- Closing reflections emphasized on youth empowerment, job creation, and economic diversification
- Call for a future where The Gambia becomes self-reliant and export-driven
Jenoi Special Economic Zone (LRR)
- Covers 263 hectares, targeting industrial development
- Potential to employ up to 80,000 workers per zone
Massireh Health Care Centre
The company is owned by Gambian diaspora and native of the called sankandi in the Lower River Region LRR.
- Community-driven health project (SIC issued in 2024)
- Construction underway, expected completion in December
- Aims to improve healthcare access for surrounding communities
- WITH a bed capacity of 50 and outpatient, oxygen room, staff quarters amongst other facilities
Day Four highlights the strong link between industrial growth, community development, and youth empowerment in driving The Gambia’s economic transformation.
