GIEPA and Ministry of Trade Embarked on Industrial Tour

The Board of Directors of the Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency has (GIEPA) together with the Honourable Minister of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment, Mod K. Ceesay commenced a tour to inspect key industrial lands and visit GIEPA SIC/EPZL businesses to acquaints themselves and discuss challenges. 

DAY ONE

 Site Visits and Key Highlights:

Lotus Company Limited

The company is Specializes in manufacturing of detergents, liquid soap, and traditional local soap.

The company employs over 100 young Gambians. They started operation three months ago and are on testing phase to improve on the quality of the products.

SRN Steel Company Limited

 Operates a manufacturing plant of steel, iron rods and oxygen cylinders. The company supplies medical-grade oxygen to hospitals and clinics and local welding workshop. They employ a diverse team of over 250 personnel and encourage women empowerment by training over 80 young ladies to be part of the production line

Bell Breweries Company Limited

Operates and produces a wide variety of bottled and canned beverages, including Cocktail, Fanta and citrus etc. Maintains a robust workforce of over 300 employees. 

DB Industries

Operates in manufacturing iron bars for export, located in the Western part of the Gambia started its operation three years ago. Employs over 10 people of young Gambians. The company also expanding to produce aluminium.

Emkay Agro Processing

The company is an agricultural company that farms onions and potatoes, process and package for the local market. They successfully process up to 2,500 bags of onion daily. The company Supports the livelihoods of over 250 workers in the surrounding villages.

The tour highlights the Government’s commitment to promoting industrial growth, enhancing local production and support job creation. Through these site visits, GIEPA and the Minister aim to identify both achievements and challenges within the industrial sector, paving the way for targeted policy interventions and sustainable economic development.
