The Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (GiEPA) through its development partner The Gambia Inclusive and Resilient Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (GIRAV) have supported 28 SMEs to exhibit at the GCCI trade exhibition.

The strategic provision is anchored on the 2023-2027 GiEPA Strategy Plan Goal 2 “Promote and develop the export potential of businesses in The Gambia”. This seeks to

strengthen the export capability of SMEs and further provide market access whilst supporting critical private sector players like Chambers of Commerce, Business Service Organizations and Associations.

As part of this development, the President of the Republic of The Gambia His Excellency Mr Adama Barrow visited the GiEPA Pavillion housing the 28 supported businesses. This move anchored on the GiEPA’s Strategy Plan of the President as the number one promoter of Made in The Gambia Products enabled the Gambian leader to visit the various stalls to see exclusively Made in the Gambia Products, interact with the entrepreneurs, patronize their products, and acknowledge their contributions to national development.

It is believed that such market access support initiatives will prepare Gambian SMEs to partner and explore linkage opportunities to reach more market preferences such as ECOWAS-ETLS, AfCFTA, AGOA, ACO-EU and EBA.

Reacting to the support provided by GiEPA and its partner GIRAV, entrepreneurs expressed their gratitude to the government for the policy environment and called for more coordinated interventions from development partners through GiEPA. This is to ensure tracking and coaching to ensure export readiness leveraging on subregional and regional treaties and ensuring continuity.
