The Gambia Investment & Export Promotion Agency (GIEPA), in partnership with The Cornerstones Group and Financial Afrik Awards, successfully hosted the 7th Edition of the Financial Afrik Awards 2026 at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Center. The two-day event, held on January 22nd and 23rd, 2026, centered around the theme: “Public-Private Partnership as an Alternative to Public Debt.”

• The gathering brought together investors from across Africa and the Arab world, making it a true Arab-Africa Round table.
• Breakout sessions facilitated one-on-one meetings, B2B engagements, and networking opportunities.

Distinguished Attendance

The President of the Republic of The Gambia, H.E. Adama Barrow, attended with a high-level delegation. In his keynote address, he expressed pride that The Gambia was chosen as the host nation for this edition, describing it as an honor. He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that attract investment and foster economic growth in the country. Under his leadership, with infrastructure designated as a priority sector, the government stands ready to support initiatives that bring investors into direct engagement with their Gambian stakeholders around the same table

Key Remarks

• Mr. Ousainou Senghore, CEO of GIEPA, delivered the welcoming remarks. He emphasized The Gambia’s reputation as a safe haven for investors and assured that investments in the country are well protected.
• The “Invest in Gambia” session, chaired by Mr. Hamey B. Jawara, Senior Manager of Investment Promotion and Facilitation, showcased priority investment projects under the Public-Private Partnership framework.

Engagements and Closing

President Barrow toured the exhibition booths, engaging directly with institutions and businesses to gain firsthand insight into their operations. The event concluded with a group photo, followed by a Gala Dinner and awards ceremony, marking the official close of the 7th Edition of the Financial Afrik Awards 2026.
