DAY TWO 

The second day of the industrial tour by GIEPA and the Ministry of Trade, led by Hon. Minister Mod K. Ceesay, continued with impactful site visits showcasing investment opportunities and local innovation.

 Highlights:

GIEPA Properties (IBAS Area)
Engagement at strategic GIEPA properties near the Governor’s office focused on planned developments and identifying key investment opportunities to drive industrial expansion.

Unique Group Energy – Nyamanari
A community-based mini-grid power plant supplying electricity to Nyamanari and surrounding villages through generation, distribution, and metering systems.

  • Rising demand highlights the need for increased government and stakeholder support
  • CSR efforts include internet access for schools and borehole installations for clean water
  • Employs 7 young Gambians, including 4 locals

 Swami India
A major agro-producer cultivating bananas, onions, chilies, potatoes, and okra across an 85-hectare site.

  • Over 1,800 tons of potatoes and onions harvested this year
  • Demonstrates strong potential to reduce imports through local production
  • A clear example of how the right policies can boost food self-sufficiency

Day Two reinforces the importance of sustainable energy, agro-processing, and strategic land development in driving economic growth and improving livelihoods across The Gambia.
