GiEPA Industrial Visit with National Assembly Members in Farafenni

The Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (GiEPA) has continued its industrial visit with members of the National Assembly in Farafenni as part of ongoing consultations on the GiEPA Amendment Bill 2025.

The visit is part of a wider field engagement by the National Assembly Select Committee on Trade and Regional Integration, aimed at providing lawmakers with firsthand insight into industrial zones, economic zones, investment activities, production processes, and the challenges faced by businesses operating within these areas.

The consultations are intended to help legislators better understand the importance of developing industrial zones and estates as they consider proposed amendments to the GiEPA legislation.

Officials explained that the proposed amendment bill seeks to strengthen The Gambia’s capacity to produce and export locally manufactured goods to regional and international markets.

The bill also contains provisions designed to support micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) through improved business facilitation measures and greater access to finance.

According to officials, the successful development of industrial zones and estates depends on adequate infrastructure, which is essential for attracting investors and supporting sustainable industrial growth.

The National Assembly’s engagement with GiEPA and the Ministry of Trade is a continuation of a process that began in May, when the Select Committee undertook a detailed review of the GiEPA Amendment Bill 2025.

The ongoing consultations ultimately aim to strengthen industrial development, promote local production and exports, improve the business environment, and create more employment opportunities for Gambians.
